3. What do the different color belts mean?
Each belt represents an advancement in rank.

White belt represents Winter - innocence, beginning your journey.

Orange belt represents your growth between winter and spring, your potential is beginning to show.

Green Belt represents Spring - your skills are becoming more visible, like a new plant growing in spring.

Red Belt represents Summer - your hard work shows, you've developed strong roots and have blossomed.

Midnight blue Belt Represents Autumn, you've matured as a harvest and your skills will continue to grow as you lead a balanced life.

5. Why do you bow when you enter the Do Jang?
When entering the Do Jang, you should always remove your shoes, pause and face the flags and salute by holding the right hand open and across the chest with palm facing the heart and bow in the direction of the flags. This demonstrates respect and appreciation for our country.

8. How long will it take me to get a black belt?
There is no specified amount of time that you can be guaranteed a black belt. If you come to class, and put in the practice at home then you should advance in rank accordingly.  Our emphasis isn't on getting a certain belt within a certain time frame, our emphasis is on improving your whole self.

9. Why do you wear those outfits?
We wear Do Boks (pronounced Doe Bach) because they are an important part of the culture and tradition that we teach, they symbolize peace and purity. We are very proud and honored to wear our Do Boks, and you will be too.

10. Can't I learn how to protect myself without fighting?
What we teach is empty handed self defense.  You will learn how to use not just your body but your mind - to be aware of your environment and be able to defend yourself if you should ever need to.
